Khalikidot Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Named after the town of Halikdot, left bank of the upper reaches of the Hanakasu River, a left tributary of the Kashkadarya River, Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region. 3.3. Mufitiev et al., 1978 (314, p.45). Stratotype on the northeastern slope of Mount Yeramko (Gissar Range).

Lithology and Thickness
Gray to dark gray massive, coarse- and thick-bedded microgranular, clotted, clotted-detrital, and organodetrital limestones. The Khalikidot Fm suite represents a formation of the so-called "reefogenic-accumulative thicknesses," including elements of reef constructions, biostromes, and taphostromes. Thickness: 120-700m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Underlain by the Magian Fm (Tajikistan)
Upper contact
Overlain by layered limestones of the Khauserman Fm, stratigraphic contacts are conformable.
Regional extent
Southern and central parts of the Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region.

Contains stromatoporoids - Amphipora ramosa Phil., A. ramosa minor Yavor., corals Crassialveolites cavernosus Lec., C. crassus Lec., Alveolitella fecunda Salee, Thamnopora proba Tchern., Dendrostella trigemme (Quenst.); brachiopods Theodossia superba (Khod.), Beckmania cf. inflexa (Sow.), Uralospirifer ex gr. mansy (Khod.), Stringocephalus burtini Deff.; conodonts - Ancyrodella cf. nodosa Ulrich. et Bassl., Palmatolepis cf. hassi Mul. et Mul. and others, characterizing the Eifelian, Givetian, and Frasnian stages of the Middle and Upper Devonian.
